Can I fix a Timex T-80 watch band?

I bought my teenage son this watch for Christmas. Stretch band, but one of the middle non-stretchy links has come apart. Here's a photo. Could I fix this with tiny tools and some bending? I don't want to pay $20 to ship it back for repair. Bands are not warrantied. Thanks!

Best answer: You've tried squeezing the textured area on the link? That normally allows you to remove individual links to resize the strap. Could it just be that it needs clipping back together?

Um ... well now I have, and this fixed it. There's one link that I had to remove because we bent it by sticking tools in the hole, but I think it'll still fit him. Thank you!! The Timex website, manual, a local jeweler, and customer support chat didn't suggest this - Metafilter to the rescue again.
