Vitamix Conversion Factor

What factor do you use to convert power settings on a Vitamix to classic cookbooks?

I made a shakshuka in my Vitamix out of the newish ATK Mediterranean cookbook, and the high setting requested from the recipe turned it into a frothy mess.

Lately, I’ve been cooking a lot from the seminal Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Julia didn’t have a 1500W blender, obviously. How have you translated power settings? I tried using ‘5’ on my blender in place of ‘high’ in her crepe recipe, and it seemed like it didn’t quite get it all mixed.

Best answer: I use full power to blend anything that isn't tomatoes. The tomatoes in the shakshuka are what turned the recipe into a frothy tomato-shake - and probably changed the tomatoes from red to orange at the same time. For tomatoes, I never use my Vitamix above 1-1.5.
