Family retreat centers

Looking for a family retreat center for vacation in August 2022. Need your help finding options!

Since 2013 my extended family has been going to the YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park every summer for a week. For 2022 we are unable to go there, and are looking for a similar place for next year.

Why we love YMCA of the Rockies and what we want elsewhere:
1. We rent cabins and can cook our own meals but are in the context of a large center. We don’t want to just rent air bnbs somewhere.
2. Plenty of different kinds of activities -arts and crafts, horseback riding, hiking, horseshoes, archery etc etc
3. Can spend the day doing activities or not -just enjoying the beautiful views, reading, rambling the property, playing boardgames.

Our kids are ages 12-16.

I am looking for suggestions anywhere in the US. We usually pay $250-$300 per night per two bedroom cabin and can’t go much higher.

Any and all suggestions are welcome!!!

Ace Adventure Resort! A wonderful, family-oriented cabin/camping “resort” on the New Gorge River. I put resort in quotes because it is by no means fancy, but it has everything you need for a terrific family vacation. Cabins are modest but comfortable and have kitchens, but there are also restaurant & snack bars on site. There is a very cool man made lake with beach, zip line, climbing structures etc, and they offer kayaking, white water rafting, horse back riding, and other guided activities. They are very well able to handle groups with a wide range of rafting/kayaking experience. Guides were among the best I’ve encountered. I am gushing, but it truly was one of the loveliest family vacation experiences I’ve ever had. I would go back in a heartbeat.

We did a family reunion at Fort Robinson State Park in Nebraska once and it was surprisingly great. It's an Historic army fort. Stay in the 1909 enlisted men’s quarters or in the former officer’s quarters, which date from 1874 to 1909. Loads of activities.

This question is relevant to my interests, but I don't think I have any good suggestions.

I'm wondering, however, approximately how many people are in the group? A dozen? Three dozen?

Response by poster: How many people in the group: this coming year only 6-8 of us. 2-4 adults, 4 kids.

Fun Valley South Fork, Colorado. Huge Campground with cabins for rent. Tons to do onsite- near a few smaller towns. Lots more to do within driving distance.

Bring bikes for kids if you can. Book now.
