The Greatest Generation of Weblogs?

Any Weblogs out there for or by the World War II generation? I know not everyone of that age group is computer savvy, but my mom is, and since there seem to be Weblogs for every other subgroup, I'd love to find her a few good links. If not, she may have to start her own...

Google search results for "World War II blogs"

Lone Sentry WWII Blog: "Directory of World War II Links and News"

Pacific Memories: "The unpublished WWII memoir of Kenneth McLintock (1920-2000). Recalls experiences in the Pacific campaign in 14 chapters. Posthumous."

I'm pretty sure he meant blogs written by and for the WWII generation, not about WWII.

How old is the WW2 generation? Because Halcyon's grandfather Caleb has a blog (and a Flickr account, how's that for being plugged in), and he's in his mid 90s.

Well, I'm a "she" (does "Gael" really look that unisex? Gael Garcia Bernal has a lot to answer for...), but yes, I meant for that generation -- not about the war.

I'd say age 70-85+ is the right age group. My mom wasn't in the war, though my dad was.

Thanks for the links so far, will check them out. Although Grandpa Caleb isn't my mom's cup of tea, I don't think, more power to him for doing that.

There are lots of blogs out there written by older folks. My mother (born 1948) keeps a weblog, and so does my aunt (1942). They, in turn, link to lots of friends who keep weblogs. But if you think hipster-doofus weblogs are dull ("OMG! Hayden Christensen is so cute!"), these weblogs will leave you catatonic ("OMG! Sean Connery is so cute! And I made cupcakes for my grandkids today!"). Actually, I'm being unduly harsh. My aunt posts lots of fun stories about growin up, and about adventures with her ten children...

Jrdroth: That's why I posted here...I figured if anyone knew of a quality Weblog for this age group, they could share. So I should qualify my question and say I'm not just looking to cast my net wide for any Weblogs from this generation, but good ones.

My mom (born 1922) would hardly consider your 1948-born mom one of the "older folks," though.

Heh.

I'll ask my mom if she has any suggestions...

You might wish to check out the ageless project, where people submit their blogs, and the site organizes them by the decade in which the author was born. I've found some interesting stuff there.

The call that the "greatest generation" nowadays.

I just lost a ton of time to The Ageless Project. Great site. Someone should post it to the front page.

I second the Ageless Project. I hate the phrase "the greatest generation" though.

Check BlogCatalog's directory of veteran blogs. There are some WWII veteran blogs in there.

This is a wonderful memoir of growing up in wartime England and beyond.

Some funny things here on the old folks. I have a blog but it is NSFW and I was born in 1929--served in army at tail end of WWII, but by then fighting had stopped and signing of final papers taking place...since I missed the fun, I got called back as soon as Korean war broke out...there are history blogs but few with main focus on WWII specifically. I find myself suddenly fascinated by WWI, for some reason, and have been doing some reading to better understand what went on in that war to end all wars. Civil War: no end of stuff out there.
