Find my spouse on Find My iPhone

My spouse and I have enabled location sharing (for years) and he can click on *info* in a text message from me and easily see my location. Despite all settings looking identical, I don’t see that for him. I can find his location on Find My iPhone, but that’s extra steps.

This isn’t some secretive thing. We’ve long been able to locate each other and now on my end it’s harder.

Relevant details:
We’ve intermingled our Apple stuff from the beginning of Apple stuff. We share apps in a joint iCloud account and also have our own individual accounts associated with iMessage. One day, his location sharing just looked different. I can’t click info on iMessage and see where he is, but I *can* open Find My iPhone and see him.

Another friend shares location with me and I can see her location both ways - in the info panel in iMessage and on FindMy. So I think it’s a him issue rather than a me issue.

We have different, relatively modern iPhones (an 8 and an XR) updated to the latest software.

What are we missing?

Best answer: On your spouse's phone, under Settings > Messages > “Send & Receive,” is the option enabled to receive and reply to messages from his Apple ID enabled?

Have him check that he hasn't set another device -- iPad, etc -- as the one which follows. And what mbrubeck said.

This happened to me and it turned out I didn't have overall location settings enabled - so though I was sharing mine with my partner, they couldn't see it.
