Karaoke In Vancouver after The Arches

Karaoke box in Downtown Vancouver?

I used to frequent The Arches Karaoke, and it was my favorite for a number of reasons:

-clean, private rooms
-huge selection of current songs in English
-modern, automated equipment
-close to / in the downtown core
-good prices
-few players, gangsters, barstars
-hipster bar attached

Yeah, the last one is not that important and the second to last one is a tall order too.

Since The Arches closed down, I've lost track of the people that used to run the Karaoke portion, and don't know where they've gone, or of any other decent Karaoke boxen in the core.

BTW, the one on Robson above the store is a prime example of a not-good K-box.

I've been to Fantacity a couple of times, and I've enjoyed myself immensely both times:

Pros: private rooms, modern...or at least automated equipment, anyway

Cons: Maybe not the best selection of English songs, there are more in Korean, but certainly more than enough for several good nights out. Pricey unless there's at least 4 of you.

The scoring system is a joke on those machines, so don't be expecting any Karaoke Revolution style action.

From what I could tell it was entirely playa free.

There is no hipster bar attached, though there is a bar, and you can, of course, get pitchers/drinks brought to your private room.
