Help me use Dropbox

I truly don’t understand how Dropbox functions. Here are some of my issues:

I get sent Dropbox links regularly via fb messenger. They are ~an hour long voice recordings. I click on them and they have random different reactions seemingly. Sometimes it’ll open the file and save it to Dropbox, sometimes it’ll just take me to a page where I can listen to but not save the file, sometimes it won’t work at all. I ideally would have them accessible in Dropbox without having to go back through the fb messenger link that is by that time lost in the rest of the conversation. I just want my files ordered by date an accessible in Dropbox. What do I do?

I think the key is to have whoever is sharing the file to share the file with you via the email associated with your account, rather than send the link via FB. So you'd get a notification via the app (desktop or mobile) and once you accept it, the file would end up in your Dropbox.

Are they all from the same person? If so, they could create a folder and give you access to it, and every time they upload a new file, it will show up in your dropbox folder. That way they don't need to send you a link, and you don't need to do anything.

Response by poster: Thank you I will have to see about the folder. Does anyone know how to get the videos she’s already sent me to save in Dropbox so I can consolidate them?

This may have to do with how your contact is generating the links.

How to set or change shared link permissions
