Where to stay in Amsterdam?

Information on decent hotels in Amsterdam (a smallish B&B-type would be ideal), reasonably close to the city centre, with high-speed access (and preferably non-smoking)?

I'm going to be in Amsterdam during the second week of May-- I know what I'm going to be doing and seeing, so I don't need tourist advice in that sense, but I could really use some recommendations on where to stay. I've found some charming small hotels and B&B's online, but the kicker is that the person I'm travelling with has to have high-speed, as this is a working trip for her. We're going to be staying four nights or so, and we'd be grateful for information. Thanks.

I stayed at the Albus Grand Hotel last year. It was non-smoking, had free high speed in the room, was clean and comfortable with friendly staff, right downtown, and pretty cheap. I also booked it through Expedia UK and got an even cheaper deal on the room.

I just booked a few nights at the Bridge Hotel. It was recommended on the conference website of the conference I'm heading to.... They apparently have wireless internet.

The Terminus will meet your bill, jokeefe. Five minute walk from Centraal Station, just down the main drag.

Not as interesting as the Greenhouse Effect (self link), but they didn't have the Internet last time I was there.

Response by poster: Thank you all.

(But if I'd know how difficult it was going to be to find the same type of thing-- i.e. highspeed access and non-smoking rooms-- in Blackpool, I would have used my question more wisely, I'm afraid. )
