Where are my pages documents?

The pages icon on my ipad was black and said waiting. I pressed it and waited and selected restore previous version. Now I have the titles to each doc but they are empty, no text. I had assumed this was a safe place to keep important information but appearantly not. I cant upgrade to the lastest version of pages because it says a newest version of ipad is required. Any suggestions?

Can you attach the documents to an email and send it to another device (computer, ipad, etc.) that has Pages so you can review it on another device? (I have Pages - if you want to memail me, I can send you my personal email so you can send them and I can try opening them.)

That will at least determine whether the issue is with the file or the ipad.

I believe the Pages App normally backs up documents to your iCloud Account. You may be able to access a recent version of your documents by logging in to iCloud from a laptop or desktop computer. How to use Pages App on your computer. This should work with any laptop/desktop computer (Mac, Windows, Chromebook, or anything with a web browser.)

There's a chance you can also recover deleted files on iCloud.com .
