Question: Why is my ipod's diagnostic screen coming on?

Why does my iPod feel the need to bring up its diagnostic screen?

For some reason, when I turned on my brand-spanking-new-freshly-loaded-with-tunes iPod Nano this afternoon, the menu screen immediately changed into some sort of diagnostic screen that stuck around for several minutes before, as they say, normal programming resumed. Does anyone have a lead on why this happened, and should I worry?

Did you download and install the new ipod updater app that Apple pushed out the other day? Apparently they pushed out software to help people control the volume level on their Nanos and video ipods. Just a thought.
