How to decorate a room with alien OR Bigfoot chic?

I'm helping an adult friend decorate their one bedroom apartment. He's decided he wants to go full out alien and/or Bigfoot themed apartment but in a "kitchy but tasteful" way. I have no idea how to help other than maybe a 50s/atomic age kitchen items (alien-ish lights) and a log bed (Bigfoot bed?) Any general or specific ideas?

I'd look at images of, and products sold by, the Greater Boston Bigfoot Research Institute. (Which supports a great cause)

I can't help you with tasteful, but I can point you to a large selection: Design Toscano, for all your terrible decor needs: Bigfoot - Alien.

How about one of these alien abduction lamps.

Perhaps an artsy bigfoot shower curtain for the bathroom that he could match decor with? Or, best of both: Aliens that could presumably be picking up Bigfoot?

So, take the highest quality stills from the Patterson–Gimlin film you can find, and blow them up with Rasterbator and have them printed through like a local giclee printer.

I have seen similar film stills take up a whole wall, and if the rest of the decor matches, you don't really notice it because it's so large, unless it's pointed out to you and you're on the other side of the room. It's abstract enough that it sorta blends in, but motherfucker, you have the bigfoot footage on your wall.

Does Star Wars appeal to this friend? If so, Ruggable has some attractive Star Wars themed carpets that might be suitable.

Maiden Voyage has some great prints that might look nice. Their shirts, stickers, and patches are also excellent.

I feel like there’s real potential here. Maybe light gray walls with a single 40 inch Bigfoot silhouette wall decal. Rustic looking wood furniture and forest themed blankets and throws. Look for mid century style chairs with a vintage-y olive green plaid upholstery. Faux fur throw pillows for the couch. A simple brown welcome mat with a footprint design. Since the goal is kitsch but tasteful I think you’re on the right path in thinking of a time period and specific textures. Bigfoot is a good choice for the main area, bathroom, and bedroom because there are so many potential textures to use and those areas require varying textures due to what they contain.

The kitchen is the best place to transition to alien theme because of the starkness of tiles and overhead lighting. You could add a wall clock and have alien inspired kitchen textiles like a couple of these crop circle hand towels.

I’m picturing a forest wall.

I have this print on my office wall. Seems kitschy but tasteful to me! I love it.

This metal bigfoot cutout is becoming very popular where I live, or people make a cheaper version out of plywood or something like that.
