Help me not miss another morning meeting!

I'd like to receive a text alert every evening that tells me the time of my first Google Calendar meeting the next morning. How can I set that up?

The time of my first work meeting each day varies quite a lot, and as a result, I've no-showed morning meetings a few times, which is embarrassing.

I'd like to set up an automated system where each day at 6pm, I get a text (or email, or notification, whatever) telling me the time (and title, if possible) of my first Google Calendar event the next day.

I haven't been able to find a way to set this up using either Google Calendar built-in notification settings, or any GCal add-ons. I also tried IFTTT which seems like the perfect tool for this, but they only seem to have actions for adding a calendar event, not querying my existing events.

What tool or method could I use to set this up?

The low tech solution would be to set a reminder for 6pm, check for your first meeting the next day and set an alarm for an appropriate time.

I have an alarm set up every morning on my Android phone where it doesn't just make a noise, but it runs a Google Assistant routine that tells me (verbally) about any calendar events today.

How to Set Up Assistant Routines in Google Clock on Android

You can probably set up a recurring notification with Tasker to make you open your calendar or similar, but that's a lot more complicated.

I found this which looks like you can get a daily agenda to be emailed to you.

Best answer: You can do something similar with an Apple device using the shortcut app:

New Automation - Time of Day
Get Upcoming Events

Also, in playing around, you can set all meetings on a calendar to give you an email hours before. With some creative filtering in Gmail, you might be able to only get the one for the first part of the day to show up.

Response by poster: Thanks for all the ideas!

I have an iPhone, so I was able to use the Shortcut app to create an automation to do exactly what I want.

I had no idea the Shortcut app was so powerful. Time to go automate everything in my life!
