Do you have a US company you like that sells raw, organic nuts online? I'm especially looking for walnuts right now, but am interested in all kinds of nuts and seeds.

Best answer: I'm a happy repeat customer of nuts.com, although I've never bought the walnuts. If organic is not mandatory, Costco.com is also a good option.

Same as carolr! Repeat customer nuts.com, haven't tried the walnuts.

Best answer: Pac Gourmet will be much cheaper and likely better quality than you can find elsewhere but they have high minimum orders so I have no idea if it will work for you.

Best answer: I don't know what you are planning to do with the nuts or why you want them raw, but in the USA, certain nuts (almonds, cashews, hazelnuts) are usually pasteurized and thus not really raw. I found this out the hard way when trying and failing to sprout almonds, which are legally required to be pasteurized if grown in California in commercial quantities (that covers most almonds sold in the USA).

Unfortunately, labeling requirements are lax and nuts can still be labeled "raw" even if they have been pasteurized. If it matters to you that the nuts truly be raw, look for growers who specifically state that their nuts have not been pasteurized, or at least that they have been steam pasteurized rather than treated with PPO, which is a known carcinogen.

So, here's an example of a small grower that sells raw nuts online: https://organicalmondsraw.com

Response by poster: Thanks for all the great answers. Flock of Cynthiabirds, I'm just planning to eat them, so I don't need them to be able to sprout, but I had no idea most nuts were pasteurized - that's great to know.
