Do I need anything more than a website for this?

I have an idea for an app (non-profit) I just came up with that I find needs to get out to the public ASAP (has to do with riding off of the news that Donald Trump was acquitted). I am getting a domain name and website to create a landing page. I'm planning on trying to generate interest for it by contacting the press and posting on social media. Basically, I'm trying to make this go viral (if you take my word for it, this is for a very good cause). Should I still get SEO tools for the website and the like or will I be fine without it?

Social media will have more impact than a website these days.

Best answer: SEO takes months to be effective, especially with a brand new domain. You'll need social media to get any immediate traction.

Response by poster: I see. Thank you all so much for your answers.

DarlingBri, do you find that trying to put the word out through social without a website is actually better than putting out posts without a website linked?

I’m not 100% sure exactly what you want to achieve. i.e. what does success look like?

When you say you have an “app”, I assume it’s for phones? So it’s in the Apple App Store and/or Google store? In which case you have locations you can link to there, so having a separate website maybe isn’t necessary.

If I’ve misunderstood and it’s not an actual “app”... what do you want people to do? Do you have a message you want them to read? Is it a message that fits in a single Tweet? And/or an image containing text attached to a tweet? Or, to achieve success, do you need people to read and understand more material that requires a website?

What do you want to achieve?
