Is it ok for a dog to have a cat toy (catnip)?

I didn't pay attention and mistakenly got a cat toy that contains a small amount of catnip as a gift for my friend's dog. Is there any reason why he can't keep it/play with it?

Best answer: As far as I can tell from a quick Google just now it should be fine. Seems like Catnip acts as a mild sedative for dogs.

A different concern is that most cat toys are small and many dogs like to eat things.

Response by poster: Thanks for the quick reassurance! We were en route to the gift-exchange rendezvous point and this seemed like the quickest way to crowdsource the knowledge. He's a pretty small dog, and he doesn't mangle soft toys so I think that part will be okay.
