I once heard a recording of a comedian/folk musician performing a song whose main lyric was "I didn't throw up; it was a pretty good day." Please save me from madness and tell me his name.

Probably Allan Sherman.

I am almost certain this is a song by the comedian John Wing. He does similar sardonic songs like "I Hope You Die" about his ex, and "The Wonderful Dealer of Drugs" to the tune of "We're off to see the Wizard".

I may just be projecting here, because I am always vexed by half-remembering Wing's stuff and not being able to find copies or reference on-line.

I should add that John Wing's act typically mentions his former days of alcohol and drug abuse, and I specifically recall watching him perform a song with a similar line.

You probably heard a live version of Martha Wainwright's "Pretty Good Day". Even though the song hasn't been recorded yet, there are several version floating around since she performs it live a lot. She often changed the lyrics while performing, and while I have heard the version with the "throw up" line, I've been unable to find the lyrics online for that version.

But, here is a close version of this piece: Pretty Good Day

Ooh! I know. Andy Breckman!. It's called "I Had a Good Day", off Don't Get Killed. Highly reccomended. The album is very funny.

It's on my iPod and I'm procrastinating, so here are the lyrics:

I'm doing OK,
I had a good day
I'm doing OK,
I had a good day
I got sick,
had a real good day.

I didn't throw up
I didn't throw up
About a quarter to four
I almost threw up
But I didn't throw up
I had a real good day.

Wait till I tell you about what happened to me
I was on my way to work today
I was getting on the subway, and suddenly
Everybody didn't throw up.

My brother didn't die
My mother didn't die
My father didn't die
My sister didn't die
Mr. Greenblatt died
I had a real good day.

I didn't get hit by a bus today
It was coming down the street
I was more than a mile away
Eating lunch in the park
Hey hey hey hey
I'm doing OK
Hey hey hey hey
I had a good day
I didn't throw up
I had a real good
I had a real good day
