It was a complicated journey but we’re finally together. I’m looking for sweet or poignant or inspirational media about people who took a complicated road but ended up happy and permanent. Thanks in advance!

A town Like Alice --a novel by Nevil Shute...
An English gal gets stuck in then British Malayan peninsula during WWII. Captured by the invading Japanese, she crosses paths with an Australian prisoner of war. After the war, well, read it, it is awesome.
I am told there is a good mini series about it, and maybe a movie?

Michael Chabon, 'The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay'. It's a commitment, but really worth it.

The Five Year Engagement. It's a little rocky, but Emily Blunt, Jason Segel, and Alison Brie make it worth watching.
