Fill my playlist

Heartbroken over professional failure/railroading. Need sad and angry survivor music.

Right now the playlist contains Destiny’s Child - Survivor and three Kelly Clarkson songs (Because of you, Stronger and Since you’ve been gone). None of these are artists I usually listen to, but the vibe is so good.

So the mood is high energy but not poppy (so not Ceelo or Lilly Allen) fuck you/this, you/I ruined something good, but I’m gonna be ok. I will probably be adding a bunch of Pink. Who else do I need? Spotify links especially appreciated. Mainly interested in women and not overly explicitly romantic.

(Just added Broken but beautiful by Clarkson, never heard it before but her whole thing seems to be my thing right now, I’ll work my way through her liver, I dare you just went in).

Best answer: I've got a playlist called Music for Difficult Women on Typical Days. Some of it may suit. In a similar situation recently I spent a lot of time listening to Pantera's Fucking Hostile. Good luck!

Male artist and a very different vein, but I’ll throw in Stan Rogers’s The Mary Ellen Carter.

Karan Casey, The Creggan White Hare

Best answer: I'm in a not dissimilar place right now. In general I think the mood of Ke$ha's last two albums is pretty good for this (not really surprising given what she's been through) but especially Praying (an amazing song) and My Own Dance. Also Mad Woman on Taylor Swift's new album. Yesterday Ani Difranco's Out of Range came up on my random shuffle and I think that and The Million You Never Made also fit this pretty well (I'm planning a run through my Ani DiFranco back catalogue over the next couple of days so I may be back with more of hers.

I posted an AskMe a while back requesting angry breakup songs for my friend. There’s a lot of suggestions there that should work for you.

Halsey "Castle"
Alessia Cara "Here"
Rihanna "Bitch Better Have My Money"
Lizzo "Good as Hell"
Nicki Minaj "The Night is Still Young"

Best answer: Sheryl Crow's Prove You Wrong kind of hits that spot for me. I always picture a big middle finger when I listen to it.

The original version off her Threads album is a pretty rocking (especially in the car with the volume up to 11). This version at the Ryman is a little more countrified and also pretty awesome.

Also, pretty much Joan Jett's entire catalog is a giant fuck you to anyone who ever screwed her over or didn't believe in her. Fake Friends is an example.

Best answer: Oh if we're gonna mention Lizzo, I would say you gotta add Truth Hurts!

Why are men great 'til they gotta be great?
Woo
I just took a DNA test, turns out I'm 100% that bitch
Even when I'm crying crazy
Yeah, I got boy problems, that's the human in me
Bling bling, then I solve 'em, that's the goddess in me
You coulda had a bad bitch, non-committal
Help you with your career just a little
You're 'posed to hold me down, but you're holding me back
And that's the sound of me not calling you back

Works for douchebag male bosses too (if thats the situation you're working with)!

Best answer: I cannot believe I left Rachel Platten's Fight Song off here. It is a bit poppy but it's also glorious Kelly Clarkson-esque high energy fightiness. Also garius sometimes sings it in the shower so that's fairly entertaining :-)

IDGAF by Dua Lipa might also fit what you're looking for.

Response by poster: This is where we ended up, thanks all, and especially Becca for the mental image of garius singing that in the shower. This also led me to the playlist goldmine that is “fuck fake friends” playlists.

Response by poster: I say ended up but what I mean is I am still working my way up the list but have been told to stop paying songs called “die bitch” cos it’s time for bed.
