Show in Providence

I'm trying to find a place for my band and a friend's band to play a show in Providence R.I.. I don't care if it's a house or a bar. I just need some leads!

ass220 would be your best bet. it'd really going to depend on the style of music though.

i don't really think the underground is an option unless you are a brown student or have a some kind of brown connection, at least that has been my experience.

after looking at your page, i would say as220 since bands mentioned there have/will play as220 (landed this weekend).

If lupo's is gone, then I guess there is no hope for the little pool bar in an old diner, name I forget (anyone?), that was under the highway downtown, and about 1/6 mile straight out lupo's front door. Anybody could play there, even walkins sometimes.

If you're on MySpace, try looking up and contacting other bands (that fit your style) in the area that might be playing around the dates you want and see if they need another act on the bill or can at least give you some club/promoter info. My band hears from people like this all the time, and sometimes it works out.

Lupo's goes away and comes back more than The Phoenix.

Lupo's is not gone, it's just in the space that was formerly The Strand. It still hosts concert's as "Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel", but the same space hosts various club nights as well.

Back on topic, AS220 is your best bet for commercial venue. They generally sponsor artists. Otherwise, you might want to check with Brown University and Rhode Island College student activity groups (at URI it was called the Student Entertainment Committee). Or if you are willing to travel to URI in southern RI, try fraternity houses.

Lesser chances might be RiRa (a bar in Union Station), Olives (a bar on North Main St.), and West End Cafe (a bar just outside of Providence in Cranston). I've seen live music at all of these places.
