How can i remove scratches from my car windows?

Some lovely person has decided to take a dislike to my car and has scratched the windows. They are not deep and are not thick, just irritating. Anyone have any idea how i can remove these scratches myself? Any help would be great.

Stop by Woodcraft and pick up some Micro Mesh. A few minutes sanding your glass, working through the grades will make your windows perfect again. I've used it on eyeglasses, and it really works.

Light scratches in glass can be removed by buffing with toothpaste. Use normal toothpaste, and not "gel" types, which contain coarser grit. Apply toothpaste to the scratch, remove excess with a razor blade, let dry, then buff with a cloth.

I had a single deep scratch on my windshield which I made a whole lot better with a cerium oxide paste. Here's a post in a Miata forum in which I described the process. Cerium oxide is used in the final phases of polishing lenses for build-it-yourself telescopes.

You can also go to an auto restoration place like Eastwood and pick up a glass polishing kit.
