Safe place to park a car in Lahaina for 5+ hours?

I'm going to Maui with a friend in mid-April, and we're thinking of taking the ferry from Lahaina to Lanai for the day. We're renting a car, and we're staying in the Kapalua area.

I understand that parking in Lahaina is difficult in general, and it appears that a lot of the parking is restricted (3 hour limit).

Any suggestions? (I did purchase "Maui Revealed" today.)

Does it have to be free or are you willing to pay?

If you're willing to pay, I know there's a lot at the end of Front street - across from 505 Front - that is a pay lot. I'm pretty sure you can park there all day but I'm not in Maui to check.

Response by poster: Praise jeebus! Answers! I was considering rephrasing the question so I could work in the current mefi zeitgeist somehow ("If I were a zombie going on an extended rampage in Maui, where could I park the car....")

Yes, we are willing to pay. I was expecting to pay, actually. I just don't want the car a) towed or b) trashed (we will not leave anything in the car, of course).

Of course, if you have any inside knowledge of zombie activity in West Maui, please give me the heads-up. TIA.

This is the page for 505 Front Street. Call the front office or Republic Parking (listed at the end). I'm not entirely sure if Republic owns that lot or what, but someone in the main office there will be able to tell you the deal for all-day parking.
