Question: Stick a feather in my cap...

Help me find a Red Hat training class in the SF Bay Area - by Friday! Ok, I got word today that I need to use my training budget (or at least have a class located) by Friday or the dollars get slurped up by Finance.

Here's the scoop & what I need:

* I wish to get my RHCT (Red Hat Certified Technician) certification.
* The class has to be somewhere in the SF Bay Area. Travel is not an option.
* Any classes that toss in freebies (like a free iPod or whatever) are OK. (yes, some employers frown on that. Mine does not.)
* The class should - but doesn't have to - offer/include the RHCT test at the end.
* It can take place any time between now & the end of June.
* I have $3,000 in the pot for the classes. That's the target figure.

If any of you have (or know anyone that has) taken any RHCT classes here in the Bay Area and have a vendor that you can recommend, I'm all ears. I don't want to let this opportunity slip by because we only get training dollars thrown at us every other year.
And yes, I have already Googled for this information. I realize that Red Hat lists courses on their own website, but since I've never taken them, I'd like to know if they're worth it or if there's something better that you folks have experience with.

What I don't need:
* Arguements about how useless you think certifications are.
* Nagging about "Red Hat sucks, use $distro"
* Links to online-only courses.
* Anyone saying "just buy the books and take the test yourself." The point is, I have money available to go take some instructor led, hands-on classes, and I learn better that way.

So, help me find a class! :-D

How about the RHCE course in San Francisco, from April 17 to 21? There are other dates too, later. $2498.

I took an older version of this class, and it's pretty good.

In the 7.2 era, when I took (and passed) this course, if you were reasonably clueful, it wasn't that hard.

It looks like RHCT is a lower-end version of this... personally, unless you must pass the test, I'd go ahead and take the RHCE course/exam. There are RHCT self-study materials available, so I'd read up on those before going. RHCE is an RHCT superset, so the study materials will be useful.

As long as you know your way around a Linux machine reasonably well, and pay attention is class, you should pass. I think of RHCE as 'solid junior-grade admin' level. I'd trust an RHCE to fix a broken Linux machine, sight-unseen. I'd be a little wary about trusting an RHCE to fix a busted network.

The only reason I'd go for RHCT is if you must pass the test to get reimbursed or something.
