Bent Needles

Using a 24 embroidery needle, on 14 aida cloth, the needles bend. What's going on?

After doing a moderate amount of stitching in aida cloth, I find the needles end up bending around the eye. I can bend them back, but once they start to get fatigued, they don't last much longer. What's going on?

Best answer: Are they particularly old needles or were they cheap? I think you might just have some poor quality needles.

Best answer: I also agree that you just have a bad batch of needles. I use 24 needles on 14 aida all the time, they do eventually bend but it takes a long time and I usually lose them before that.

Best answer: Hello, fellow quarantine cross stitcher! I had picked up the hobby a bit before this all started and was having the same issue as you—recently ordered new and more expensive needles that have made stitching in general much more smooth!

Mine are John James brand and I got them from embroidery.com, which has also been a good source for floss and other supplies.
