How can I combine Thunderbird email addresses?

Thunderbird filter: Is there a way to combine all my "personal address book" addresses and "contacts" in one place?

I recently switched to T-bird from Outrage -- er, Outlook. I find it inconvenient to have my (imported) email addresses in two places (i.e., Contacts and Personal Address Book). I've searched Tbird's help pages, but no luck. Is there a simple way to combine them in one place or the other? (What's the difference between the two, anyway?)

Sorry if this is a common question. I didn't find it in a search of MeFi. Thanks in advance, folks.

Export both of them to csv, merge the two files, import the resulting file as one unified resource?

Best answer: If I understand your question correctly, when you open TB's address book module, it has two separate places your address are collected, one which is the default TB ("address book") and the other which is the list imported from Outlook ("contacts"). Is this right?

If so, you can just Ctrl+A to select all of the address from the one you don't want anymore and drag them into the one you want to keep. This will copy the addresses to the new location and you can delete the address book you don't want anymore.

Response by poster: D'uh -- thanks, camcgee. Worked fine. Only problem is, I feel like a dope for not thinking of that myself!

Response by poster: How about this question --

When I open an email in T-bird, the thing that indicates there's an attachment is at the bottom of the window. Is there a way to make that appear at the top, as it is in Outlook/OE? TIA.
