Looking for a Violin Case Shaped Wine Carrier

I'm looking for a wine carrier that's shaped like a violin case. I have found the one on Amazon (Violin Case Wine Carrier by Mint Leather) but it's out of stock and looks low quality from the reviews. I'm willing to throw a bit of money at this, if custom is the way to go. Right now, specific details don't matter (number of bottles, accessories etc) so long as it 1. looks like a violin case and 2. holds wine bottle(s) 3. is available in Canada or can be shipped to Canada.

Why not buy an actual violin case — lots of sizes, shapes, colors, finishes are available, or you can look for an antique one. Then take it to someone who can line it with appropriate padding and fabric. A cobbler shop might do that (and could restore any leather on an antique one), or a tailor, or a cabinetmaker, or some combination of the above. Or DIY the innards with a combination of carved-to-shape non-crumbling rigid foam (insulation material from big orange store) and nice fabric.

This is a brutal time for musicians, luthiers, and that whole community. It's possible you could find someone who builds mandolins (same size as a fiddle, a little more open to small-time builders) who also custom makes cases. In normal times an order for a funky custom case with no instrument might not be appealing, but these folks are all about to take a huge hit from the cancellation of festivals everywhere and this might be a very welcome project.

Seconding beagle. You could line the case with plastic wrap, then go to town with low-expansion spray foam. You'd want to put in a shallow layer and let it cure, then spray again with the bottle(s) in place (glasses too if you're so inclined). Trim, spray on flocking or line with fabric glued down around the edges and Bob's your uncle! You could practice with a cardboard box or two first.

If it doesn't need to look particularly nice on the inside, you could always get a real case and fill it with cubed foam inserts like the inside of a Pelican case. (But, getting a custom thing, the inside of which actually looks like an instrument case would be more fun to show off at picnics.)

Mandolins have slightly different dimensions from a violin - on standard "A" and "F" types of mandolins, the upper and lower bouts are a fair bit wider than on violins, so their cases will tend to have significantly more horizontal room in them than violin cases: here are photos of my two mandolin cases, with wine bottles for scale [hiccups loudly].

I'm assuming that part of what you're going for is a case that mimics the contours of the violin for aesthetic reasons.

If you wanted to talk about specifics of case dimensions with folks who sell them, you could get in touch with The Sound Post (they're in Canada) and amuse them with your inquiry.

Or DIY the innards with a combination of carved-to-shape non-crumbling rigid foam (insulation material from big orange store) and nice fabric.

Seconding this. With certain models of cases, it might be easy to pare down the section that cradles the violin's neck to better accommodate the neck of a standard wine bottle. I don't have a violin case on hand, but I can imagine it's possible to find one in which the bottle would already sit fairly flush and not require too much modification.

Something like this? It doesn't look fancy, though. It looks like it just has a foam insert to support the bottle.

Response by poster: La Gata that's perfect, except they don't ship outside of the US. I'll look into custom :)
