ode(s) to dog parks

I'm looking for short quotes in which people say what dog parks have meant to them - for example, in this recent interview with Edie Falco in the NYT. Please note: I am really well aware of the potential risks with dog parks, and why some of them fail. We are working hard on that angle as well as on the positive angle. Following up on my earlier post.

I'm not trying to "sell" people on a dog park, but am working with a new nonprofit to establish the first one within a 100-mile radius of our rural area. But as part of our fundraising, I'm sending out short bi-weekly emails with enough details to (I hope) keep people interested in it. Each email has 3 short news bulletins, and ends with a booster-ish quote like the one linked above. Do you know of any such enthusiastic references to dog parks, or can you come up with one? (I tried just googling "love dog parks" but got a ton of links to Love's Truck Stops and their dog parks!). Much gratitude for any help with this.

Here's Edie:
4. Washington Square Park Dog Run My first love was my dog Marley, a yellow Lab/white shepherd mix. When I was living on my own and I didn’t have kids, it was just she and I, and she grew up in the dog run. Nobody’s unhappy in there. Everybody’s laughing, smiling and looking at the dogs together. It’s unfettered by the loneliness that people can feel in New York. Now I have two dogs: Sami, a Brussels Griffon who was a mommy in a puppy mill until they busted the puppy mill, and Niko, a Border collie mix, another rescue dog. Rescuing animals is very important to me.

Best answer: It's not a short quote, but Off the Leash is a great book about a specific dog park and the people there. It's definitely a love letter to dog parks.

Best answer: I used to be involved in an effort to establish a fenced off-leash recreation area (OLRA) in Massachusetts. It took 7 years, but we eventually did open a park, and it's still going strong today.

You may find some quotes on this page, which also has some good links that could be useful.

Good luck, it's a valuable effort!
