how can i set an audio file on my computer as my voicemail greeting

i'd like to be able to construct a greeting for my voicemail (the one you hear when you call me and i don't answer) on my computer. aside from playing the sound into my phone mic, is there a way i can do this. i'm thinking of something along the lines of a 'computer phone' that i can dial into my voicemail with and then at the apporpriate time have play the audio file, but none of the services i've found (skype for example) allow the playing of an audio file. it would be great if it was free to do this but i wouldn't mind if i had to pay like $0.02 a minute or something.

If your phone has an input jack for a headset, you could try buying a male-to-male cable at a Radio Shack-type place that would connect the headphone jack of your computer to the phone. Then you could go through the voicemail prompts and just jam the cable in and hit "play" at the appropriate moment.

You'll need a cheap voice modem for this. It will come with software.
