Options for "High-Tech" Wool Coats?

I ran across "Norwegian Wool" (brand name) coats and like their combination Italian wool exterior, goretex like membrane, and down insulation (so a bit like a ski jacket masquerading as a high-quality wool overcoat). Alas, none of their models work for me (fit or price) and would appreciate suggestions for similar products(?)

Have you searched for "technical wool coat"? Alchemy Equipment makes something similar.

P.S. Sorry, I missed that you're looking for something affordable- if you do find something that fits, try looking for a used coat on eBay.

I'm not sure you're going to find anything that is similar in terms of style, materials and quality that is anywhere near affordable, save for, as pinochiette suggest, stumbling across it on eBay. Now, if you're willing to substitute man-made fiber for the wool outers, polyfill for the down, etc. there might be good options out there.

Clarification regarding price.
I'm willing to pay "Norwegian Wool" prices (~$1,300) for something that has a slim fit and works in other ways
(e.g., the one Norwegian Wool piece that fits me requires you to zip and button to look finished and has a weird hood attachment I don't like...)

Try “we Norwegians” and “dale of Norway”... you’d probably have to keep checking the dale collection but we Norwegians specialize in wool. I have a technical wool shell from dale and some of their weatherproof jackets and they’re great.

Voormi may be up your alley.

Try Finnisterre and Fjallraven. Bonus: they are PF free, unlike goretex
