Looking for a typeface

I'm looking for a typeface for use in a logo with a somewhat specific requirement; I need the lowercase "n" and "u" characters to be totally unadorned, i.e. just a single plain curve, something like the union and intersection symbols ("∪", "∩"). Obviously it's going to be sans-serif, and probably something quite geometric. I don't want something blocky though, but more curvy and round. Anybody know of a typeface like this?

Best answer: Something like Horatio?

Response by poster: Ooh that's perfect! I would prefer if it was free though, do you know of any free alternatives?

I found two candidates: https://fonts2u.com/metro-normal.font and https://fonts2u.com/simple-dandy.font . The first one was the first suggestion at https://www.whatfontis.com/similar-alternative-fonts.html , and the second one I found by scanning quickly through a list of fonts with simple in their name.

Quicksand from the Google Fonts is nearly what you want, though has an ascender on the 'n' character:

Best answer: Kirvy might fit the bill. There are several different weights available.

Best answer: I found out some font sites use the category spurless for fonts with minimal ascenders and serifs. Some of them look to fit your totally unadorned criterion exactly. Here are two catalogue searches.

Best answer: If you have eps editing such as Illustrator and you have a font you like for everything except the spurs on u and n, it's easy to edit them out.

I should add to my suggestion above about Illustrator that if you do so you'll have a unique logo.

Response by poster: Thanks for all the suggestions! My current shortlist is Horatio, Kirvy, Offside, Nordique Pro Light. Only Offside is free... I kind of like it but it has a very distinctive look which I'm not sure I want. Horatio is really my favourite, I'll have to think a bit if I want to fork out the money for it.

Yeah it was one of the fonts I had shortlisted, but like you said there still is an ascender on the 'n'.

Oh that's great, I was having trouble figuring out if there was some category for the kind of font I was looking for.

I was considering doing this, but I'm not that great with graphic design and I'm not sure if the result would look good. I might try that if I can't find anything else that works.

Mexcellent is free but maybe too stylized

If you don't feel comfortable editing the spur, don't forget you could also just flip the u character upside down in fonts like Dosis, Quicksand or similar free fonts.
