Street View won't zoom out

Until recently I could use the mouse scroll wheel to zoom out from Google Street View to aerial view, and continue to zoom out as much as I wanted. Now zoom only works in a very limited range within Street View. Chrome vs Firefox makes no difference.

Response by poster: When I reverse the procedure, and start from satellite view, it will zoom in, but it won't flip to street view as it did until recently.

I would file this under something that Google decided to change for whatever reason. I have no inside knowledge, but based on my experience with software development my suspicion is that they had user testing that showed people getting confused when the scroll-wheel brought them into or out of street-view and so they axed the feature.

Best answer: Zooming between Google Street View and satellite imagery depends on whether you are in the "3d" imagery mode with the ability to tilt the camera. That's controlled by the little globe icon in the lower right corner or "Globe" toggle in the left-hand menu. It doesn't look like you can change it when you're in the street view image, unfortunately.

I'm able to zoom out from Street View to aerial view. Maybe you accidentally clicked the little globe on the lower right hand corner and made it gray. In map view, click it and make it blue, and see if that fixes it.

Response by poster: SOLVED: lantius got it. I just clicked the little grey globe and turned it to blue. Everything works now.
Thanks, all!
