Vice article about taking on unhealthy challenges for money

Earlier in 2019 Vice published an essay from someone who tried an extreme diet & lost close relationships as part of it, but there was also a section about being beholden to continue because he needs the money. What was the article?

The writer was male, possibly British, and he lost his girlfriend over it. He did lose weight but the diet itself seemed to make him ill.

In the essay he talked about how the main reason he continued with the diet even though it was clearly bad for him was because he pitched it to Vice and he needs the income from the publication of the essay. It wasn't the main thrust of the essay, but it did stick to me.

This would have been published online early 2019.

Best answer: I can't seem to link from my phone but the Vice article is "I spent 80 days trying to get abs and it ruined my life"

Response by poster: Aaahhh that's the one, thank you! I hadn't realised it was from 2017 - I read it this year so it must have been reshared recently.

thanks EndsofInvention! Truth be told, "I can't seem to link from my phone" really meant "I can't remember how to do this as I am weirdly drunk after having had two glasses of wine with coworkers and I'm on a bus but will soon reach a subway where I will have NO connectivity and I really appreciate all of Divabat's contributions to mefi and thus must answer her need *right now*". So thanks for linking and I am a big fan of both you and Divabat.
