Where can I find Mongolian BBQ in NYC, or nearby to NYC? (By Mongolian BBQ, I mean pick your ingredients, cooked on a big flat grill, all you can eat.)

I don't know if this is nearby enough, and I can't speak to its quality, but Magic Grill seems to be the kind of thing you're looking for.

I was just going to mention Magic Grill, one of my son's favorites. But Garwood is a hike from NYC, especially since the Raritan Valley NJ Transit line stops at Garwood very infrequently. You could take the train to Cranford or Westfield and Uber to Magic Grill, but that's about an hour each way from Penn, with a probable change in Newark.

There's a youtuber, under the name "Strictly Dumpling", who has a three-part series of "the best Hot Pot and Mongolian Barbecue in NYC" (you often find both at the same place). Here's the one for Queens, you can probably browse his channel for more.
