Working in the Czech Republic?

My roommate is considering moving to the Czech Republic. He's Canadian, works in IT, and knows nothing of the job market, economy, and so on.

I would be very interested in hearing if anyone from Canada or the US is working there. What's the IT market like there? Rent? Money? Work permits? I think he was looking at Prague, so any regional info would also be appreciated.
