Seeking L'Occitane Almond Milk Veil Body Lotion Dupe

Looking for a cheaper duplicate of L'Occitane Almond Milk Veil Body Lotion.

I use to buy the Almond Veil (and the other items in the almond range) back when I had a job that paid well but can no longer afford it without that job.

I have cheap lotions and pure shea butter that certainly does the job as far as moisturizing goes but it doesn't give me the sheer sense of luxury. I miss the almond scent and the gold shimmer.

I'm looking for a good quality milky lotion or cream that has a similar almond scent that moisturizes well. Can be a face, body or hand cream. Bonus for shimmer but I guess I'm asking too much. I like milk (cow or goat's) and also honey so honey almond, almond milk or almond cream honey combinations are welcome.

Is the Out of Africa Shea Butter Body Lotion in Almond any good? I am currently using the Out of Africa shea-based foot cream because yup, I'm too poor to buy the L'Occitane foot cream too.

Aveeno Active Naturals Creamy Moisturizing Oil. It's a lotion, not an oil, and it has the lovely sweet almond scent you're looking for. It's my go-to body lotion. It makes my skin feel like silk.

(I'm not sure where you are geographically, so I've linked to the US site but in the UK you can buy this lotion in Boots or Superdrug.)

Best answer: I haven't tried the L'Occitane Almond Milk Veil, only the almond hand lotion so I can't compare the scent.

I love almond too and have tried several things from The Body Shop Almond Milk and Honey line. The fragrance is divine and it feels quality. I can vouch for the body butter, the shower cream, and the body lotion. I don't like the body yogurt, only because I don't like the texture, but others do. If you have an Ulta near you, sometimes they run sales and the $5 mini body butter is a good way to try it out.

Best answer: When you find a right-priced lotion you like, you can try adding the shimmer element (with bronzer, illuminator powder, mica powder; some DIYs use pearlescent eyeshadow or blush).

Response by poster: essexjan: I don't recall seeing this particular Aveeno lotion before but will try my luck on my next drugstore trip.

loveandhappiness: Ah, another almond lover! A Mefite after my own heart! I actually bought two tubes of the Body Shop Almond Milk and Honey hand cream just before posting this ask because they were on sale but it didn't occur to me the hand cream was part of a collection. Will check out the whole collection when I go out tomorrow.

Iris Gambol: What a great idea! Depending on the container, the lotion may have to be decanted into something with a wide mouth though. How do you keep the mica suspended with thinner lotions? Will shaking before use be enough?

Some bloggers using store-bought lotion with mix-ins for shimmer. (And a wikihow.) Skimming, but it seems that small batches are made as needed? (Body butters and oils with shimmer mix-ins is another avenue to explore.) YouTube has videos, too; DIY Fenty Body Lava dupes were a big thing a couple of years ago.

I put shimmer in my lotion and body oils. It's easiest if you find a loose powder instead of a pressed one. For lotion, I stir it in and it remains suspended; for oils, I just shake it up before applying. I can often find loose shimmer at Dollar Tree in the cosmetics aisle, but I've also used J.Cat brand and ...LA Colors, I think?
