Some models do now have it on a replaceable card, but compatible upgrades tend to be impossible to find.
What laptop are you talking about? posted by cillit bang at 11:28 AM on March 4, 2006
I had an older Dell Inspiron and it had a replaceable video card, but most laptops don't. Check the manufacturer's website or the manual. posted by Dipsomaniac at 11:44 AM on March 4, 2006
It does depend on the laptop and is in no way as clear cut as delmoi would have you believe.
I recently upgraded my Dell Latitude D800 by:
swapping the harddrive (easy)
upgrading the screen (easy if you know how to use a screwdriver)
upgrading the processor (first checking that the BIOS could use the faster speed)
I could easily have changed the graphics card too, on the way to the processor, but there was no need.
