Who's the guy?

I really need to know this for work. Who is the actor in a certain television ad I have been seeing? Lots of vague details and foggy memories inside.

This is pathetically vague, but, there is a commercial that's currently being played, in which an older guy, slender, around 60-70, is wearing a velour track suit and Elvis Presley sunglasses and a gold chain, and he is sort of "training" a young guy. He comes in and yells at him to get out of bed, he puts him through some paces. The older actor looks like Robert Culp in a bad hairpiece. I really need to know this. I'm trying to cast something and I keep referencing this commercial and no one has seen it or knows who I'm talking about. If you can't provide me with the name of the actor, do you know the copmmercial?

I believe the ad is for the Burger King "Angus Cheesy Bacon Steak Burger". There was a website at angusdiet.com but it looks to be offline at the moment.

Don't know the actor, but hopefully this will jog someone else's memory.

Well Harry Enfield is Dr. Angus, so that might be the guy you're looking for.

I don't think it's a Burger King ad. I'm pretty sure it's a PSA or an ad on how to quit smoking. Doesn't the "trainee" jump over cigarette packs and run up some stadium stairs while stepping on packs of cigarettes? Unfortunately, I don't know the actor, nor can I find the ad online anywhere. I think it was actually an ad for a website or program put out by the tobacco companies or the nicotene patch/gum conglomerate, not your regular publicly-funded PSA. Sorry I can't be of more help, my google-fu is weak today.

I know the commercial, but not the actor, and I can't think of anything he's been in off the top of my head. The commercial is an anti-smoking ad, filmed partially at Hollywood High School.

Google found this, which says his name is Charles Napier.

It's not burger king. It's the antismoking ad. I remember that now. Thanks for that tidbit, sarahnade and frogan.

Heh. You can tell your compatriots that he was that cop who got clubbed to death by Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs.

Dammit, I knew I had seen him in something significant. Thanks.

Hey- my dad knows him. He was also a space hippy in the original Star Trek series, a country singer in The Blues Brothers and, according to my parents, he appeared in a very embarrassing soft-corn porn film. That's all they'll say on the subject.

Charles Napier's best work is as the voice of Duke Phillips from The Critic.

Yeeeeeeears ago some friends and I thought we'd author the official Charles Napier tribute page. Sadly, nothing ever came of it.

Don't forget he appeared in two Russ Meyer movies - Cherry, Harry, and Raquel, and also Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.

It's Tucker McElroy, lead singer and driver of the Winnebago. Also, by the way, you're going to have a hard time eating corn on the cob with no fucking teeth.

(obligatory Blues Brothers reference)
