Where can I find a changelog for iTunes?

Where can I find a changelog for iTunes?

I'm not going to just install the latest version of iTunes because Apple tells me to. Especially when it seems like each new version adds bad functionality or removes good functionality. Plus, it's always a pain to beat Quicktime back into line after each upgrade.

So I don't want to upgrade unless I know there are features I actually want. If it ain't broke, etc.

I've searched iTunes Service & Support and came up with nothing.

Best I could find with google is

"- iTunes 6.0.3 includes stability and performance improvements over iTunes 6.0.2."

Searching the downloads from there gives a few previous versions of iTunes (major updates 4.7, 5, 6) but the notes for each read more like ad copy than a changelog.

Right, "stability and performance improvements." I like stability and performance! Better upgrade asap!

Seriously, I like iTunes and I really love my iPod, but why does Apple have to be so secretive? "Trust us: it's for your own good..."

Apple generally only lists added features and major bug fixes. You'll find that info via the support/downloads/ section of their website.

If you'd read all of the updates to your "adds bad functionality" link, you'd find that it's not really a problem at all, especially since you have to manually turn on the "mini store" after the update.

Just a warning, but it seems that upgrading to version 6 from version 5 is a Bad Idea. For one thing, it isn't easily reversible (the version is linked to your account, so anytime you try to access it from any computer it will insist that you only use v. 6). For another thing, Hymn and jHymn don't work with 6.0.

Finally, there's error 2122, which seems to prevent me a at least two other Dell users from burning CDs easily. Or, in my case, at all.

You're probably asking about upgrading to 6.03, and not 6.0, but on the off chance that you're still using 5 I'd stick with it. I just bought a Satanicocultpornoshop CD... and have no way to get the thing off my PC short of re-recording it all. Grrr.

So I guess the answer to this question is: Apple generally only lists added features and major bug fixes. Isn't the "mini store" an added feature? Why isn't that listed?

I'm not trying to be a dick here; I'm just trying to figure out what's been changed since version 6.0.0. A basic list of added features would actually be a lot more helpful than just "iTunes 6.0.3 includes stability and performance improvements over iTunes 6.0.2." And since I missed 6.0.1 and 6.0.2 altogether, what did I miss? You know?

It's not like I'm looking for proprietary trade secrets. I just want to know what's new.

The short answer is: no, there is no changelog, they won't tell you. they didn't even reveal what security updates fixed until there was an outcry about it. Apple is massively, massively secretive. Always has been, always will be.

iTunes ChangeLog from the good folks at Wikipedia. It's light on details, but it's also probably the best option until Apple unclenches.
