Where can I shop for a wearable avant garde outfit?

I have a fundraiser event to attend in July which has an avant-garde theme/dress code. The event will take place outdoors during the day in New Orleans. I am in the process of making a very large elaborate headpiece which will involve feathers and flowers, but I'm stumped on how to put together an "avant-garde" outfit or where to shop for the actual clothing.

I'm envisioning a very structural unusual dress or maybe a floor-length peplum top over dress shorts? My style is more edgy than feminine; I don't mind boho but that feels wrong for this event. Comfort is key, as I will be sitting under a tent in sweltering heat and humidity. I'd like to spend $200 or less but I'd like to avoid super cheap-looking stuff from Amazon if I can. People will be dressed to the nines for this event. I have a pinterest board for inspiration, but where should I be shopping?

You could spend awhile scrolling through the infinite variety of ASOS and then accessorize fabulously...

Experiment with searching keywords on Etsy—I’ve found some great stuff on there.

Etsy has some dressmakers whose dresses would be nice backdrops for an elaborate headpiece.
Marcella Moda
Econica
Celestial

Non Etsy shops might be
Cuyana
Cos
Norma Kamalli

This skew more fancy basic than sculptural but they'll be less expensive than something with more complicated construction,

Teyxo on Etsy would probably be my first stop.

Omg. Get something from Celestial that crush links to. They’re gorgeous and won’t compete with your headpiece.

Whatever it is make sure it breathes, New Orleans + July + outdoors + daytime = wear as little as you can. Maybe something cotton that you can starch away from your body?

I go to thrift stores because you never know what you'll find in them.

This store has a plethora of unusual shapes, but I havent experienced their fulfillment first hand: MariaQueenMaria.

Sisley has some pieces that might work for you, especially if an interesting print or stripe could complement your headpiece.

Response by poster: I don't know why I didn't think of Etsy, thanks! Something like this or this in white with some major shoes may do the trick. My headpiece will be almost like a massive feather mohawk, so I may go with an overall warrior/tough girl vibe. Thanks all, and happy for any more fun places to look!
