Question: best carwash in metro boston

I want personal recommendations for carwashes in Boston/Metro West. I like the kind where I put money in and get to soap up my car myself. But I will consider other kinds as long as you tell me that they are very effective. (I have been dissatisfied with conveyor/brushless carwashes in the past and I hate to waste money.)

I am a big fan of the Allston Car Wash but they're not a DIY place. It's pricey, but definitely worth it.
I've been to a Scrub-a-dub on north beacon street, near the Comp USA there - dont remember the cross street name, and it's been fine - had all the brushes and hoses I needed.

Titan Gas on Broadway on the Somerville/Medford line near Ball Sq. has car wash bays AND coin-operated vaccuums for the interior. They also usually have good gas prices.

I'll second Allston Car Wash. It's the team of workers who dry your car and wipe down the dash with chamois towels that makes it worth the trip.

I agree, go to the Allston Car Wash. They've got guys who hand-dry your car (quickly) at the end, and dust off your interior. The general machine washing part is very effective.

If memory serves, there is one on Somerville Ave near Porter Square. Same stuff as Sprout the Vulgarian's.

Found them. They have a website. Check out that fine, fine domain name.

Touchless ("brushless") washes aren't very effective if your car hasn't been washed in a long time (not I didn't say "is very dirty"). Go to a wash that has soft-touch *cloth*, not foam. I know it's not specific to Boston, jes' sayin'.

Thirding the place on Somerville Ave--they did a great job of spiffing my car up, inside and out, before prospective buyers looked at it.

Belmont Car Wash is quite good. It's on Trapelo Road in Belmont right near the Belmont/Waltham border.

Randy's in Melrose (Tremont St, the web tells me) was the only decent DIY carwash I ever found during my spell in the area.

Man, I miss Massachusetts.
