Where should we stay in Nashville?

I am looking for up-to-date recommendations for an area of Nashville to stay in for three days in September.
We would like to stay in a reasonably priced hotel or vacation rental that has parking, since we will have a car, but I'm a bit stumped on where. What I'm mainly interested in is an area that is walkable for coffee, eating, and maybe a brewery or low-key bar. We will be Uber-ing or taxi-ing for nightlife, so that is not a priority. Downtown is too expensive, especially with the extra fees for parking. So, where is a cool and nice spot to stay in Nashville that won't break the bank?

Best answer: We returned from Nashville yesterday. Stayed at the Comfort Inn on Demonbreun. $7 Uber to downtown. Good breakfast, comfortable room, although the bathroom was not very big. Staff were great.
