Are images from the UK boy's magazine CHUMS in the public domain?

I just found a collection from between 1928-1929, and it's full of great pen and ink illustration by Albert Morrow, Tom Hall, J Greenup, TH Robinson, and Robert Strange.

I've tried to find information on the death-date of the artists, but I can't find anything on the web.

Are these illustrations in the public domain? How can I find out for sure?
