Persistent Nightmares from Cycling Off of Adult ADHD Medication?

This one`s for tne non-neurotypical cool kids out there: Trying to cycle off my ADHD meds and ever since I stopped the regimen, I`ve been experiencing a non-stop parade of hideous nightmares that seem to be escalating in tone and content. Wondering if anyone else with this diagnosis, and who`ve tried to stop taking it, have experienced something similar and what you did about it?

Best answer: Unpleasant dreams are one potential symptom of withdrawal from Ritalin. This article suggests symptoms might last for a couple of months, though most sources I've seen suggest a couple of weeks, or at least claim that the worst will be over by then. Most ADHD meds are similar to Ritalin, but your mileage may vary depending on your specific meds. This article gives some good suggestions for handling nightmares, but you may just have to deal with it until the withdrawal wears off.
