Is there a difference between cinnamon rolls and cinnamon scrolls?

I say no. Mrfeet says there IS a difference. Googling isn't helping.

Either way I'm looking forward to eating something delicious.

Yes, there is a distinct difference.. one has a serious typo, the other doesn't...

I was going to say that one of those things exists and the other doesn’t.

Then I googled. Turns out, some people call them cinnamon scrolls. Weird. The recipes look identical to cinnamon roll recipes, so I’d say they’re the same thing.

Best answer: An American friend and I were talking about this the other day. We (Australia) call all the things she would call "cinnamon rolls" "cinnamon scrolls". We had at least heard of the term "cinnamon roll", but it's not really used here. She on the other hand had not heard of "cinnamon scroll" until she came to Australia. But she lived here for a year and ate them a lot, and believes it is just a weird word for what Americans call "cinnamon rolls".

I've never heard anyone other than Australians and Kiwis say "cinnamon scroll", so I've always chalked it up as yet another example of Anzanian sillytalk.

Response by poster: Mrfeet and I are Australian, but I grew up overseas with Americans, which explains why my vocabulary skews that way sometimes. Thanks lollusc!

In the UK they are also known as cinnamon whirls. They're a particular favourite of mine. I could be happy the rest of my life with a cinnamon whirl.
