Minimum System Requirements for Scanner problems

Computer dinosaur here, looking for a scanner to digitize photos, documents and three dimensional objects. Transparency feature a plus. Orphaned by operating system OS 10.9.5?

My MacBook Pro has OS 10.9.5. In looking at recommended scanners such as Epson Perfection series and others, here are the specs I keep running into:

Minimum System Requirements:
Windows® 8, 8.1
Windows 7
Windows Vista®
Windows XP
Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
Mac OS® X 10.6.x, 10.7.x, 10.8.x, 10.10.x

What, no OS 10.9.x???
If I have to find a scanner that works with OS 10.9.x, how do I search for that? And what am I missing?

Thank you in advance!

Best answer: I don’t think you have anything to worry about. There’s nothing special about OS 10.9 that excludes it from supporting those scanners.

You should check on the support website for the devices themselves, where they actually offer drivers for download.

For example, the driver page for the Epson Perfection V600 has a download that works with 10.9 even though its description inexplicably leaves it out of the list.

I also always recommend trying scanners with the OS's built-in Image Capture app before installing the manufacturer's utilities; a lot of scanner and printer drives come with loads of extraneous junk that you don't need.

And what am I missing?
Just upgrade your OS if 10.9.5 doesn't fit. I did that last week (to High Sierra 10.12.5 i think) when I got my new printer.
