HomePod AirPlay from non-synced iPhone?

Quick question for anyone with a HomePod! I’m looking into buying one but can’t find an answer on the internet: if I set it up to be synced to my phone, can my wife (or other iPhone user) then use it as an AirPlay output device from her own phone, too?
