I travel around Manhattan for work daily and would love to bring home a great big salad for dinner on the regular. Do you have a New York salad bar or salad joint you love?

When I'm in the Village I usually stop at Citarella on my way home, and I've become fond of Just Salad but there have to be many more options around town, right?. I'm looking for fresh and simple basic ingredients - kale, quinoa, lentils and beans. Barely steamed broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, asparagus,

I can dress my salad at home, so the dressing choices are not so important (then again, a truly great dressing might be worth the trip if the rest of the salad is also good).

I might be persuaded to go into a Whole Foods, but the checkout lines are a little off-putting. Same with the lines at SweetGreen or Chopt. If you're a fan of either though, which location?

I'm open to other takeout ideas if you've got them. Thanks for helping me feed my face with greens.

Best answer: I love Sweetgreen- if you use the app, you can pick salads up really quickly. (Whole Foods lines also move pretty fast, at least at the Tribeca location).

Best answer: Grey Dog Café has great salads – get the garlicky house dressing! – on University Place in the Village, Carmine Street in the West Village, 16th Street in Chelsea, and Mulberry Street in Nolita.

Village Taverna on University Place has a variety of huge Greek salads.

Best answer: I like the Chopt in the Flatiron district, and they also have an option for ordering in advance via app and picking it up pretty quickly.

Best answer: The little beet in midtown ( 50 the and 7 the Ave) has great options, and you can order online for pickup.

Best answer: Nanoosh is a Mediterranean local chain with good salads you can add hummus or falafel to.

My lunch is to alternate Nanoosh and Just Salad every day. Tomorrow is Just Salad

Response by poster: I'd forgotten about Nanoosh! Another good choice. Can't wait to try the others. Thanks all!

Best answer: CAVA and Dig Inn both have salad options with other heartier foods to put on top, and they're high-quality and delicious.

Just a recommendation of where not to go: From what I've heard, there are solid reasons not to ever order from the Flatiron Chopt. I won't get into detail because I don't want to put you off your salad, but don't do it!
