Spontaneous trip to Cuzco! Now what?

Cuzco for the flâneuse : looking for ideas for walking/short bus trips in town.

Long story short: I'm in Cuzco for the week by myself. It's "winter" down here, which means it's drizzling and temps are in the fifties-sixties during the day.

It goes without saying that trips to Macchu Picchu and the Sacred Valley are already in the works.

This leaves a couple of days free. So, I'm looking for ideas for walking around town/taking the bus. I've already found the Plaza de Armas and the museum district, but I'd like to explore neighborhoods. I've heard that there's a market that's worth a look so I'll probably try to get there today.

I'm in OK shape, so I can walk around without much ado. I also haven't yet had any altitude-related symptoms, fortunately for me.

There's lots of great wandering off of the Plaza de Armas toward the San Blas cathedral if you haven't already found it. The Mercado Central de San Pedro has tons of great food. Just outside of Cuzco, check out Saksayhuaman if you want to see an Incan ruin before the rest of your trip-- it was a pretty cool little ruin.

My folks just got back from Cuzco, and were giving me an account of their trip just now, so I asked them what they would suggest. What they said, in addition to seconding the comment above:

Museo de arte precolombino
Museo Inka

They were in Cuzco for a conference, and the conference put them up at a pretty spectacular hotel that my mom thinks is worth seeing in its own right.
