What's the UK equivalent to Yelp/Zomato/Wongnai? (And while we're on the topic, is there a local equivalent to Beanhunter - or is Beanhunter used over there?)

It would help people from and in the UK to answer your question if you could define the items for which you would like the equivalent. What are Yelp/Zomato/Wongnai/Beanhunter?

Could you possibly explain what zomato and bean hunter are? Yelp I imagine most are familiar with. So for example, I Googled zomato and it looks to be a yelp type service.

Best answer: Zomato works in the UK, Yelp does in theory but doesn’t seem to have enough users to be useful. Tripadvisor is an option. The Good Pub Guide may be worth having particularly if you’re out in the countryside.

Best answer: Yelp is used fairly heavily in cities, not much elsewhere. They took over a competitor a while back that was the only real equivalent.

Tripadvisor is (as noted above) used heavily, but the reviews tend to be more often from tourists than locals. I'd advise going old-school and looking up 'NAME OF CITY' 'food blog' - there's a fairly healthy food blogging scene in the UK and most medium-sized towns will have someone writing about new and upcoming places.

I, a very tech-savvy UK person, know and have used Yelp but have never heard of any of the other services you named. Zomato and Wongnai seem to be respectively Indian and Thai services for finding restaurants, and Beanhunter seems to be an Australian service for finding coffee shops.

Zomato and Beanhunter at least seem to be set up in the UK, but I've never heard of or used either. If your question is "how do UK people find restaurants and cafes," I guess Google? Or just walking around? UK cities are much more navigable by foot than American cities.

Best answer: I use Google Maps and TripAdvisor. I've just checked where I live, and everything that's ranked well on TripAdvisor is good, and the few bad places I know of are ranked poorly, so it's reliable enough.
