Travel insurance for American Expats Abroad -- to America

I know this has been asked before but it was a while ago so I'm hoping for updated information! I am an American living abroad with insurance in my resident country that does not cover the US. I am going back to the US for several months with my family (mix of US and non-US citizens.) What kind of health insurance do I get?

Will ordinary travel insurance do? I have been advised by a friend to get World Nomads, and it seems we would be covered. But I thought I would ask here to see if anyone has any positive experiences with other temporary insurance options in the US as an American expat? Really just talking about emergency care here.

Online research yielding little and having trouble separating sketchy from non-sketchy plans.

(Note, we would not as non-residents be eligible for Obama-care plans.)
