How do you find a tabletop gaming group in a new (small) city? Specifically one that is inclusive and includes queer women and nonbinary folks?

I'm moving to Ithaca, NY in three weeks for work, pretty much sight unseen and without any close friends (though a couple of acquaintances who aren't into gaming). I would love to find that elusive long-term, lovely roleplaying gaming group! How?

I've never been part of a long-term campaign before, though I've been part of many board game nights (which are less interesting to me but still can be fun). I love console RPGs and just started listening to Friends of the Table (and would LOVE to run a Technoir/Mechnoir or similarly cyberpunk-y game). I don't think I'd be a great DM, but I'm happy to host people/put in work to make the game group I want to exist in the world.

The most important caveat is that I would also really, really, really like to find a group that centers queer women/nonbinary folks. That would make me so happy.

Any and all advice appreciated! Thank you! (Also my apologies if this has been asked before -- I searched around and didn't find anything on the Green, but perhaps my google-fu has failed me...)

Best answer: Very little RPG gaming happens at Games Club at Cornell, but it's a good way to get plugged into the local gaming community.

A lot of gaming also happens at 10 Forward, the cafe above Autumn Leaves Used Books.

If you'd like, MeMail me and I can also put you in contact with some Ithaca gaming folks.

Best answer: I would try the RPG Geek meetup forum, as well as Meetup itself.
